A sweet loaf, a bread machine experiment, and an afternoon of memories with my son Hunter.

Savor the moments—they become the memories you’ll hold closest.
I try my best to bake fresh bread every Sunday. It’s become a little ritual in my home—a way to slow down, fill the kitchen with warmth, and set the tone for the week ahead. On Sunday, June 29, 2025, that ritual became extra special when my son Hunter joined me.
There’s something magical about baking bread from scratch—the aroma, the anticipation of that first warm slice, and the joy of sharing it with someone you love. Hunter—my built-in foodie and culinary enthusiast—is 18, starting college this fall, and has three years of high school culinary classes under his belt. When it comes to anything trending in the food world (especially from Instagram), he’s my go-to guy.
We found this recipe from @foodzizzles and decided to give it a try. You can view the direct recipe link here: Condensed Milk Bread Recipe. Here’s the fun part: don’t tell anyone, but I didn’t have any loaf pans! So, we used my trusty bread machine instead.

The Bread Machine Experience
We followed the recipe, using bread machine instant yeast instead of active yeast. In three hours, the kitchen was filled with the smell of fresh bread, and we had a golden loaf ready to slice. The flavor was nice—sweet, rich, and comforting—but the texture was denser than I’d hoped. Baking directly in a bread machine can do that, so next time I’ll let the machine knead and proof, then bake in loaf pans for that pillowy-soft texture. You'll be happy to know that I have loaf pans now.
A Bonding Moment I’ll Cherish
What made this loaf truly special was Hunter’s presence. With him starting college soon, these moments mean everything. We laughed at my loaf pan mishap, talked about recipes he wants to try, and soaked up this quiet time together. It reminded me how important it is to savor these small, everyday memories—they’re the ones that linger the longest.
The Recipe: Condensed Milk Bread (from @foodzizzles, adapted by me for the bread machine)

Ingredients for the Dough:
• 1 cup warm milk (250 ml)
• ¼ cup condensed milk (75 g)
• 1 egg
• 2 tbsp sugar (30 g)
• 3½ cups all-purpose or bread flour (420 g)
• ½ tsp salt
• 2 tsp instant yeast (bread machine yeast)
• ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (50 g)
For the Coating:
• 2 tbsp melted butter (30 g)
• 2 tbsp condensed milk (30 g)
Tip: Always add the yeast before the flour. If it’s chilly in your kitchen, allow extra time for the dough to rise.

Final Thoughts
Baking bread is more than a recipe—it’s a memory in the making. Even if the texture wasn’t perfect, the laughter, the smell of bread baking, and sharing those first warm slices with Hunter made this Sunday unforgettable. We are definitely making this bread again. Next time, we will bake in the oven, following the original recipe.
If you’ve never tried condensed milk bread, consider this your sign. Bake the bread. Make the memories. That’s the real magic.
